Philip Larkin Collected Poems (4 copies)
This book contains the poem Church Going that is on the Common Core list for Grade 12.
One of the best-known and best-loved poets of the English-speaking world, Philip Larkin had only a small number of poems published during his lifetime. Collected Poems brings together not only all his books—The North Ship, The Less Deceived, The Whitsun Weddings, and High Windows—but also his uncollected poems from 1940 to 1984.
This new edition reflects Larkin's own ordering for his poems and is the first collection to present the body of his work with the organization he preferred. Preserving everything he published in his lifetime, the new Collected Poems is an indispensable contribution to the legacy of an icon of -century poetry.

out of the dust.jpgOut of the Dust (25 copies)
This gripping story, written in sparse first-person, free-verse poems, is the compelling tale of Billie Jo's struggle to survive during the dust bowl years of the Depression. With stoic courage, she learns to cope with the loss of her mother and her grieving father's slow deterioration. There is hope at the end when Billie Jo's badly burned hands are healed, and she is able to play her beloved piano again. The 1998 Newbery Medal winner.

Hello Everyone,

We just loaded four new author/illustrator interviews on abookandahug.com for you to share with your students.

(I host a cable television show here in Maryland through my public school system and have the joy of doing author interviews.)

Here's the link:
http://www.abookandahug.com/books-alive

We just added the following interviews to the Books Alive tab:

Alex London (Accidental Adventures series, Dog Tags series, YA Sci-fi book PROXY)

Matt de la Pena ( outstanding Latino author for young adults ...has a new trilogy THE LIVING..action/adventure and sic-fi)

Patricia Polacco (amazing picture book author for lower and upper elementary)

Kadir Nelson (author/illustrator of amazing picture books fiction and non-fiction)

I hope you enjoy them. You can download them for free and use parts of them or the entire interview. You might want to scroll down and see who else is there... Laurie Halse Anderson, Katherine Paterson, Mo Willems, Dan Gutman, Gordon Korman, and more...Probably about 45 in all.
I have two more to load... Michael Buckley and Susan Cooper...I'll let you know when they are available.
Cheers,
Barb Langridge
